SKYE
This is a portrait of a rescue greyhound Skye, who was a very successful winner in her days on the track. As with all good things , these days have ended and she has a forever home with our caretaker. She sat on the art room floor and was gently heading off to sleep
This is a pastel portrait, A3 in size and I snapped the image and tried to get the elegance of her fine head, glazing eyes and weary attitude. I struggled to get the glossy fur and the mottled effect of her grey/black fur with hints of purples and blues in them. I had to overlay pastel, add sharp pencil dashes for the top finer hairs with Pitt pastel. I was told never to stint with the quality of black and white pastels, both pencil and blocks and it does make a difference
