Absolutely amazing Andrew. The eyes are magnetic, i feel they are looking straight at me and seem to follow me. Such warmth emanates from the painting too.

I like this, because you've made him look as challenging and disturbing as he really would have been. A refreshing change from the sentimentality of 'gentle Jesus, meek and mild' and similar Victorian affectations.

Thank you Jacqueline; that's really lovely feedback! Enjoy! love and God bless, Andy 🙂x

Thank you Robert; that's good to know that how he comes across; love and God bless, Andy 🙂

This has been one of my biggest challenges yet, with a completely different style to anything I've done before, but well worth the effort in the end. Enjoy! Love and God bless, Andy 🙂

Stunning Andrew. A clever idea really well executed and those eyes, they say everything. I would love to see this as a stained glass window in a church.

Thank you Heather for that brilliant feedback; much appreciated! love and God bless, Andy x

Andrew, what can be said of this magnificent depiction of Jesus Christ, the eyes are haunting and appear to see straight into ones inner self... clearly the best of your work as an artist..

And, yes, I agree Heather, re this being stained glass window in a church! x

A lovely piece of art with such mesmeric eyes. The colours are beautiful Andrew.

Thank you Caroline for those comments! peace & love; God bless, Andy x

A captivating and beautifully done painting Andrew. Our concepts of Jesus will always differ as no one knows what he looks like. I dug out my own stark interpretation of his agony after seeing this. Great work.

Thank you Jim!; that's really lovely feedback! Enjoy! love and God bless, Andy 🙂

Thank you for all your lovely comments on this painting; it felt really risky going for such a change in approach, but it seem to have worked well, not least the eyes; keep safe all; keep painting; God bless, Andy

In response to a few comments elsewhere, just in case anyone else had wondered, his is not collaged with eyes from a photo but these too are acrylic painted

Thank you for all your great feedback on this, which was very much an experiment for me, Peace and love; God bless, Andy 🙂❤️

This is a really significant change from my usual style; its my interpretation of Saint Peter's notion of Christians being 'living stones' to reflect Christ to the world, Acrylic on board

About the Artist
Andrew Smith

I’ve always loved water, its movement, its colour, its power. I had the privilege of working as a hydrologist for nine years before ordination, necessarily but enjoyably observing the movement of water in full flow or even in floods. That was thirty years ago but my love for moving water has not…
